Hairstyle Trends for 2021

Well, it may not have be the start to 2021 that we’d all been hoping for, but lockdown could be a great opportunity to start planning a fresh new look for when we re-open our Essex hair salons!

At Gary Pellicci all our stylists are highly trained and up-to-date with the very latest hair trends and techniques.  We can help you find a flattering and wearable look with the perfect new cut and colour.

After enduring another lockdown and staring at our hair growing out on so many Zoom calls, we predict that 2021 will be a year of experimentation when it comes to our hair.   It’s definitely time to do something different, maybe something radical, but still very chic of course!

Here are some of our favourite ideas for inspiration for your post-lockdown locks…

The Shag Haircut

The iconic 70’s hairstyle is making a comeback this year and it’s better than ever.  This choppy layered look is a great way to add texture, volume and depth to your hair.  It’s a super-easy, low maintenance style that epitomises effortless chic.  It compliments most face shapes and works well on long hair, curly hair and even shorter cuts.  This is one trend we know you’re going to want to try this year.

Smoky Hair Colours

Inspired by smoky eye looks, these cool colours are set to be a strong trend in 2021.  Your expert Gary Pellicci colourist will apply 2-3 carefully chosen shades, from the darkest at the roots to the lightest at the tips.  They will carefully blend and smudge the transitions where the colours meet.  Cool tones of blues, violets and even greens can be blended in to neutralise unwanted yellows, oranges and reds in the hair for an ultra-modern look.   This colour trend works well on all hair shades – which smoky look will you choose?

The French Girl Bob

The French bob looks likely to be another must-try hair trend this year, taking inspiration from our chic neighbours across the channel.  The style is blunt cut at chin level and paired with added fringe, sitting at the brow line. This is the perfect style for anyone who wants low-maintenance styling and a structured shape, as it actually looks better air dried with a bit of scrunching!

Pixie Cuts & Short Looks

Short hair is a fashionable trend we first saw developing in 2020, with many clients fed up with their over-grow lockdown locks and swapping them for a short chic style.

This trend looks set to continue into 2021 as more and more women embrace shorter, more manageable hairdos.   If you are looking for a transformation, we can find a short hairstyle that’s flattering as well as easy to manage.   Your Gary Pellicci stylist will show you how to style your new shorter look and recommend products to keep it looking its best.

Side Swept Hair Styles and Waves

Side Swept Hair Styles

As modelled by many Hollywood A-Listers recently, side-swept fringes look set to make a come-back in 2021.  They’re longer and wavier this time round and can be styled to look sleek or laid back.

Tempting as it may seem during lockdown, don’t try to cut a fringe for yourself!  Wait for your Gary Pellicci stylist who will make sure your bangs will be blended in with your overall cut for the most flattering look for your particular face shape.
